An October Portrait Session with the May Family
Hannaford Woods is one of the most beautiful places. I was made aware of this stunning location by the May family, who frequently visits this area for walks and spending time together. Beautiful prairies, larger than life oak trees and a path that winds through the woods are all reasons to visit. In the fall, the preserve was especially stunning!
Having a background in art history, Chris knew the best spots and areas to photograph in. He has an eye for color and texture and I appreciated his insight!
Our session was held later in the day so we did have to keep a watch for time. We managed to get in many images of the family together, plus additional imagery of the kids together and mom and dad.
Always capture images of the two of you.
We believe it is very important to capture imagery of mom and dad alone. Usually, the last time they were photographed together was at the wedding! So, we always photograph mom and dad together without kids. Having these images will help you remember that you are a couple and not just mom and dad.

When we book a family session with our guests, we let them know that having individual imagery of the kids and the kids together is all part of the session. Having images of the family is usually the first priority so we always make sure that is done first. Still, we listen to our guests to hear clearly what is most important to them during the consultation. With the May family, having more family imagery was more important than having individual images of the kids, so we focused more on family connection, captured individual images of the kids with each parent, and then captured the kids together.
