What's On My Mind

The beauty of winter
My daughter moved to Montana last summer and we had the chance to visit her. The beauty of the landscape is just breathtaking. The color of the summer flowers, flowing green grasses and texture of the mountains was so peaceful. Everything was alive.
Now we are in the middle of winter back in Illinois. No color, no mountains and no life outside, or so it seems.
Family Spotlight

Meet the Eickman Family
We have many families we want to celebrate. The families we have the honor to photograph are the reason we are in business. You are the ones who give us the joy we feel when we are with you at your session celebrating your loved ones. And, one of those families is the Eickmans.
Things to Learn

More than Digital Negatives
Why is it important to "print"? Most of the time when clients call the studio I ask, "What do you plan to do with your portraits?" And, most of the time the answer is, "oh...I do not know, I thought i was just getting some digital files."
The photography industry has changed a lot and most of the time people just expect to receive digital negatives and nothing more. For us, it is imperative that those digital negatives are turned into works of art to be displayed in your home. After all, isn't that we were hired in the first place?
Often, you choose to decorate your home with beautiful pictures of framed flowers or landscapes. Why not do that with your family instead? Portraits of your family, and especially your children, can be used in home decor. And wouldn't you rather see your family than flowers?
Read on to learn how having your children's portraits on display in their home is so valuable.
Are you Hungry?

Are you hungry yet?
One of my favorite all time recipes to make is with flour, sugar, butter and chocolate chips. Check out what I use and how I do it and enjoy creating yummy, delicious cookies with your kiddos!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
2.5 cups of unbleached flour
3/4 cups stevia (not white sugar)
3/4 cups brown sugar
1 Cup of real unsalted butter, softened
2 Eggs
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1/2 bag of Milk Chocolate Chips
1 bag of Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
Steps
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
1. In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking soda together
2. In another bowl, empty softened butter and add sugar
3. Mix (cream) butter and sugar together until creamy
4. Add Eggs and cream more
5. Add flour mixture, one cup at a time until mixed well
6. Add Milk Chocolate Chips and mix well
7. Add Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips and mix well
8. When all mixed well, scoop out dough with a table spoon and drop on a cookie sheet
9. Bake about 7-9 minutes until soft to the touch and cooked
10. Take out of the oven and let sit for about 3 minutes, take off sheet and let cool on cookie rack.
I like to take the cookies out a little earlier when they are soft to the touch and just about cooked. When they sit on the rack, they will cool and be soft on the inside and super delicious!
You can also vary this recipe by adding butterscotch chips instead of the milk chocolate ones. just as good!
